Community Involvement & Service-Learning
Community Involvement: Volunteering
Lots of students find rewarding volunteer work off campus. Whether you have volunteered before or are just considering it, the Career and Community Learning Center (CCLC) can help you learn more about it. CCLC's advisers can connect you to volunteer positions that match your interests, values and goals.
Service-Learning: Combining Volunteer Work With the Classroom
Would you like to make a difference in your community while you are a U of M student? Would you like to grow your skills through first-hand experience? Service-learning classes provide a unique way to do both. By combining classroom study with volunteer work, these classes allow you to blend your personal and academic goals.
Service-learning is the bridge between classroom and community. Build your knowledge, reach out to the larger community by volunteering, and learn more about yourself and your values. Both you and your community benefit.
You can find service-learning classes in departments throughout the College of Liberal Arts and the University of Minnesota.
Student experiences with service-learning
