University Honors Program
CLA students can find exciting and challenging opportunities to learn and lead through the University Honors Program (UHP). UHP offers you the benefits of a diverse world-class research university along with a supportive and high-energy environment.
Some of the opportunities include:
Admission
When you submit your application to the University of Minnesota, you will be considered for admission to UHP. Admission is competitive. Each application is carefully reviewed.
Scholarships
You will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships simply by submitting your application to the UofM. However, UHP has staff who can work with you to prepare applications for national and international scholarships, such as the Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, and many others. As a CLA student, there are also a number of collegiate scholarships you may qualify for.
Graduating with Honors
To graduate with Latin honors, i.e., cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude, you must be enrolled in UHP.
Graduating with Distinction
You do not have to be in UHP to graduate with distinction or with high distinction. Students graduating with distinction must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher in University of Minnesota coursework at the time of graduation. Students graduating with high distinction must have a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher. At least 60 of the total semester credits must have been completed at the University.
