About the College of Liberal Arts
The University of Minnesota’s largest college, the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) is home to 16,716 students (14,762 undergraduate and 1,954 graduate students). CLA’s 30 departments offer more than 60 undergraduate degrees in the social sciences, arts and humanities.
Program Rankings
Two-thirds of the CLA graduate programs ranked by the National Research Council (NRC) are in the top 25 nationally. Half of the University’s most highly ranked NRC programs are in CLA.

20,651 students applied for the 2,650 spots in CLA’s class of 2013. This numer is more than double the number of students (7,303) who applied for freshman admission a decade ago.
