Scholarships & Financial Aid
Many students and their families use some kind of financial assistance to pay for college. Financial assistance can come in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, work-study and more.
Scholarships
When you send in your application to the University of Minnesota, you will automatically be considered for all of the scholarships that the University of Minnesota administers.
But wait. There's more.
There are additional scholarships that are available only to CLA students. To be considered for College of Liberal Arts scholarships specifically. There are additional scholarships that are available only to CLA students. To be considered for College of Liberal Arts scholarships specifically, you will fill out an Application for College of Liberal Arts Freshman Scholarships. It will be available in fall 2008. This is a separate application you will need to fill out in addition to your application to the University of Minnesota.
We would also urge you to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form as soon as possible. Many scholarships are based on financial need. Need is based on an evaluation of your FAFSA. The sooner you apply, the sooner you will receive notification of your financial aid eligibility. Our priority deadline to submit the FAFSA is March 1, 2008.

Many U of M families use a variety of resources to pay for college. The Office of Admissions has a website that discusses different kinds of financial assistance.
The U of M Financial Aid website also provides detailed information about financing your education along with a link to the FAFSA form.
