Get Involved
If you're just looking at numbers the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus can seem huge: 1,204 acres, over 65,000 students, and 258 buildings. But when you walk on Northrop Mall or cross the Washington Avenue Bridge to the West Bank, you'll see students meeting and greeting each other. Stop in Coffman Student Union and you'll find people having lunch, meeting over coffee and poring over logic problems together.
Getting involved in campus life makes it feel more like the campus belongs to you. So, how can you have your own piece of campus? There are student groups, recreational sports, on-campus jobs, volunteering, and special programs like Homecoming and Spring Jam—not to mention your classes.

Student Activities Office (SAO)
The SAO is a big part of organizing campus-wide student-centered fun and learning. From the Whole music club, to Homecoming, to mini-courses in dancing, crafts, massage and more, you'll find lots to do. Plus, if you join the Minnesota Programs & Activities Council (MPAC) you can even be part of planning and organizing activities like these for your fellow students.
